Making our Mark
As we looked back from the far street corner to our freshly painted building, we knew that 121 E. Buchanan was finally our home. We are now part of the Warehouse District—a move that started eight years ago for the agency— and our new signage shows the block that we’re fully committed.
Like most things we do, we worked from the inside out. The floors, walls and ceilings were all refurbished months before we tackled the finishing details on the exterior.
The R&R design team explored many logo treatment design options for the exterior signage. It was never just about branding the building with our name. It was about being a part of our new neighborhood, about doing justice to the history of the district. We took this as a chance to lay the foundation for the future.
We took a lot of inspiration from the building itself. Our warehouse has its own personality and wanted to fit its original feel. Working with the City of Phoenix and the Historic Preservation Office, we decided on muted colors and a worn-in treatment. Kurt Schlaefer of Signs by Kurt, the artist who painted the signage, used a dry brushing technique that gave our logo a slightly weathered look.
Our new signage gives us an identity in the district that we can be proud of, and will surely make us hard to miss to visitors.
